About this job
Under minimal supervision performs installation/pulling of complex Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) systems and associated equipment in onshore oil and water wells. The field specialist may be required to act as team leader and monitor, troubleshoot and test down-hole ESP equipment, including down-hole monitoring tools in order to maximize well productivity and ESP run life. This position assists with the setup and start-up of Centrilift Motor Controllers and Variable Speed Drives (VSD). Field personnel responsibilities also include frequent travel within an approximate 2.5 hour radius from the Baker Hughes hub location and time away from home on occasion, often at short notice. Field specialists will usually leave from home and travel directly to the oilfield locations and perform installs and/or troubleshoot the ESPs using standard hand tools, switching out circuit boards, using testing equipment such as a fluke meter and other tools, and reading data from charts/graphs on Excel spreadsheets and other software.  In addition, the field specialist handles special projects, as assigned and conducts all business activities in accordance with Baker Hughes HSE policies, Legal Compliance requirements and Baker Hughes Core Values.

Essential qualifications/requirements
  • HS diploma required
  • industry experience and product line training required
  • excellent functional / technical, customer focus, communication, and computer skills required
  • ability to work efficiently in teams required
  • ability to communicate effectively in a courteous manner required
  • ability to perform duties in various sometimes harsh outdoor weather conditions required
Preferred qualifications/requirements
  • AS degree in electrical technology or mechanical/pump technology is highly preferred
  • oilfield experience preferred
  • experience maintaining pumping equipment or complex machinery preferred
  • electro-mechanical troubleshooting and testing experience preferred
Other details
  • some overnight travel including out of state for training and assisting other districts required
