We are currently looking for an experienced Production Technician to be a part of our Eagle Ford team.  Marathon has reached a definitive agreement to purchase assets in the core of the Eagle Ford shale formation in Texas in a transaction valued at $3.5 billion.  With these assets, Marathon has the potential to book up to 100 million boe of proved reserves by the end of 2011.  In addition, production is expected to increase to approximately 80,000 net boe per day by 2016 with the expectation to drill 250 – 300 wells per year over the next five to eight years. This acquisition establishes Marathon’s position in the highest value oil and condensate core area of the Eagle Ford shale.

The successful candidate will be responsible to provide technical support for ongoing field development within the Eagle Ford play in South Texas.  With the recently announced acquisition of additional acreage in the play, to expand Marathon’s net leasehold position to 285,000, the team has aggressive plans to manage up to 20 rigs and the multitude of wells required to develop the field. This position will report to the Production Superintendent for the Eagle Ford Asset Team and will be located in one of field offices, either Gonzales or Pleasanton.

• Support Operations team with technical issues involving facilities and wells.
• Proactively coordinate, monitor, and complete special projects.
• Work technical issues with engineering staff and Operations team.
• Support data management and technical evaluation efforts of team. Recommend new approaches to streamline team's data management.
• Primary go-to person as liaison from field issues to staff personnel, and staying flexible in a growing atmosphere.
• Support field personnel in managing the production data. Work with operators to ensure production integrity.

Education:                             High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience:                           Preferred to have 5+ years of technician or data management experience supporting technical staff or strong administrative experience   including technical support.

Computer Skills:                  Microsoft Office Products. Training will be provided as appropriate for TOW, Aries, Access, SCADA and other software as deemed value-added. An understanding of oilfield data collection will be very beneficial.
