|
Land professionals play a unique and vital role in Marathon’s oil and gas business by ensuring that the company has obtained the right to drill and produce hydrocarbons on a prospect. They determine land ownership, acquire oil and gas leases, rights of way, surface use agreements, review and record lease documents. Land professionals also identify laws and regulations governing company oil and gas projects and support well permitting requirements. |

| Responsibilities: | ||||||||||||
|
1. Manage work within an aggressive and dynamic title curative process in order to maintain and sustain continuous drilling activity in a multiple rig development program. Order and review title opinions, secure title curative and request title approval for drilling and division order purposes. Assist IBM Division Order group with initial ownership set up. 2. Pro-actively seek business opportunities that are in areas of interest to Marathon. Build rapport with surface owners, lessors, government officials and industry counterparts to enhance our commitment to be the Partner of Choice. Negotiate, prepare, review and handle a variety of Land contracts and transactions, including oil and gas leases, surface agreements, assignments, joint operating agreements, farm-in/farm-out agreements, miscellaneous letter agreements, gas storage agreements, federal unit agreements, AMI's, etc. 5. Research MOC acreage position and contracts through TOBIN Land System to assist in well generation and reviewing outside proposals. Review term leases and provide recommendations for lease cancellations, renewals, rental obligations, as well as decision point reminder review. Prepare notice lists and application for a variety of state and federal agency hearings. Coordinate the filing of applications with geology, engineering, regulatory and Law personnel and present testimony, as required, at regulatory hearings. |
